[Column Material] What is a Water Conveyance Pipe?

We will also provide detailed examples of the installation of drainage pipes to prevent water leakage in tunnels!

This document is a column article explaining the drainage equipment "drainage gutters" that drain water leakage from joints and cracks in tunnels, underground structures, and buildings. It provides detailed information on the mechanisms and types of drainage gutters, such as linear drainage gutters and surface drainage gutters, as well as the history of drainage gutters and the differences between water stopping and water guiding. Water leakage can cause the concrete walls and surrounding areas to corrode, leading to the deterioration of the structure. Additionally, if there is moisture from water leakage, mold and bacteria can thrive, resulting in a musty smell and affecting the hygiene of the living environment. [Example of Water Conduction Work] Shimohanbara Tunnel

We will introduce a case where construction was carried out to replace the embedded gutter with Arch Drain Cold-Resistant Transparent (AD030 Cold-Resistant Transparent)!

This is a case study of water leakage countermeasures in the Shimohanbara Tunnel located in Ono City, Fukui Prefecture, implemented by "water guiding works." Due to the small cross-section of the tunnel, the existing water guiding pipes were frequently damaged by contact with large trucks, leading to water leakage issues. The section of the tunnel wall where the box trucks were making contact was chiseled away, and the existing pipes were replaced with embedded pipes using Arch Drain Cold-Resistant Transparent (AD030 Cold-Resistant Transparent). By changing to an embedded type, the protrusion was eliminated, resolving the damage caused by contact within the tunnel and preventing water leakage. 【Case Overview】 ■ Issues - The small cross-section of the tunnel led to frequent damage of the existing water guiding pipes due to contact with large trucks (box trucks), resulting in water leakage. ■ Results - Changing to an embedded type eliminated protrusions, resolved damage caused by contact within the tunnel, and prevented water leakage. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
